“Balance is the key to everything, what we do, think, say, eat, feel. They all require awareness and through this awareness, we can grow.” – Koi Fresco

Hi,

So, here we are; I am writing my first blog post. So exciting! The intention with my blog is to fill it with stuff that will help you on your way to become healthier and happier in your life, and yes I know there is so much advice out there already and I know how confusing it can be, especially since everyone seem to contradict one another.

What you need to do is to find what works for you. Trust your own instincts and follow your own intuition. Take onboard the stuff that resonates with you and feels good for you in this moment and to hell with the rest.

Reality is that since we are all different, what woks for one may not work for someone else and as humans we change and evolve so what works for you now may not work further down the line. Always, keep an open mind and try things out, explore what works for you and what doesn’t. There is no right or wrong.

The key to success is to like what you are doing, whether that is a diet or a specific exercise. I have studied more than a hundred different diet theories and I have tried lots of different diets myself, looking for that quick fix. I failed miserably every single time. I failed because I didn’t enjoy any of the stuff I was doing. My advice - If you don’t like something don’t do it, find something that you do like and work with that.

On this website you will find topics related to: Relationships, Life Purpose/career, Health, Physical (Joyful) Activity, Spirituality, Social Life, Self-development, Joy, Creativity, home-cooking, finances and home-environment..

If you think about it, you will see that these are all topics that contribute to our health and wellbeing in one way or another. If you can learn how to balance these elements in your own life you will nourish not just your body but also your mind and your spirit.

Here you will also find lots of advice, tips and tricks, delicious recipes and interesting information that will help you start your own health and wellness journey.

Every week there will be a new challenge or some sort of action step that you can participate in. Simple steps towards healthier habits that will get you in the right mindset and help you make better choices. Intuitive and mindful eating and no more obsessing around dieting, calories, points and you name it, just complete freedom. How amazing does that sound?

Maybe you are like me when it comes to dieting, it feels like something negative almost like punishment. Dieting doesn’t work for me, but mindful eating does!

I put on 10kg when I stopped smoking 10 years ago and then I put 17kg on with each pregnancy, the cravings I had with my first pregnancy were insane.

I had a thing for deep fried sweet and sour prawns, yeah hello 17 kg!, then the baby arrived so lets add months and months of sleep deprivation to that, coffee mornings and lunches with other sleep deprived and hungry mums.

Then pregnancy number two happened and yes there we go, I became a wreck on so many levels and all of a sudden one day when both my children finally had started nursery and I got a bit of breathing space, that’s when I took a good look at myself and gosh what had happened to me?

Motherhood, life of a housewife, a part of me felt grateful for having had the opportunity to be at home with my children but another part of me was horrified over the fact that I had completely lost my identity and the fun person I once used to be.

Any woman who has been a stay at home mum and especially as an expat without the support around knows how extremely hard it can be. You have to juggle the kids, family life, your home, your marriage, no wonder we lose ourselves. There is no energy left to care for ourselves and as women, we always try to be so strong, why do we do that to ourselves?

I am looking back at those days now and it feels like a life-time ago even though It is only a few years ago. So much have changed. Both my girls have started school, I am working, I am studying, my husband have changed jobs, we have bought a house.

I am involved in lots of fun and interesting stuff with like-minded people. I am exercising daily, I am eating food that I love, I am healthy and happy and life is great and your life will be great too.

Positive mindset and baby steps, you can do what you want and be what you want. I promise

This week’s actionsteps:

If you look at your life and the different elements in your life-

Relationships, Life Purpose/career, Health, Physical (Joyful) Activity, Spirituality, Social Life, Self-development/ education, Joy, Creativity, home-cooking, finances, home-environment.

Which areas needs improvement?

Grab a notebook or a journal and write down:

· What areas in your life needs improvement

· Choose one thing that you can work on this week and ask yourself what action step can you take this week to improve that specific area?
